The 50+ bracket is where masters basketball really starts to look like masters basketball. Players hitting 50 have made peace with the parts of their game that are gone and have doubled down on what's left — usually a deadly mid-range jumper, a quick first dribble, and an instinct for where the ball is about to be. The Emerald Coast Masters 50+ bracket attracts some of the most committed players in the Southeast.
What 50+ basketball looks like
Slower? In stretches, yes. Better? In a lot of ways, yes. The 50+ game is a clinic in efficiency. Players don't take bad shots. Teams don't turn the ball over. Defense gets played with feet, not hands. The most-used skill in this bracket is the post-up, followed closely by the pull-up jumper from the elbow. The pace looks deceiving — until you realize how few possessions get wasted.
You'll see plenty of guys still throwing down on a fast break. The legs are still there for many. What's left behind is the recklessness.

Who shows up for 50+
The 50+ bracket has the highest percentage of "team-of-friends" rosters at the tournament. Many of these teams have been playing together for 10–20 years across multiple tournaments. They know each other's wives, kids, and surgeries. They show up early and stay late.
You'll also see ex-pro players in this bracket — minor league guys, overseas guys — who are still nailing 18-footers like it's 1998.
