35+ Masters Basketball Tournament

The youngest masters bracket at the Emerald Coast Masters. Full-court 5-on-5, certified officials, real bracket play. February 11–14, 2027 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

The 35+ division is the entry point to masters basketball. Players in this bracket are still moving — many recently aged out of open men's leagues, others have been holding down the gym for years. Expect competitive, physical games. This is not a "rec league with old guys." Teams come prepared.

Quick Facts: Men born on or before December 31, 1992 are eligible for the 35+ division at the 2027 tournament. Full-court 5-on-5 format. Maximum 8 teams per division. $500 per team early bird registration.

What to expect in the 35+ bracket

The 35+ bracket attracts the deepest talent pool at any masters event. You'll see former college players, semi-pro guys, and serious amateurs who never stopped competing. Most rosters carry one or two former Division I or II college athletes. The pace is real — fast breaks, contested threes, full-court defense. Conditioning still matters here. Teams that show up out of shape get exposed by halftime.

What makes it different from open men's basketball: the savvy. Players in their late 30s have learned to use angles, screens, and patience. The games are smart. Captains who recruit a balance of athletic finishers and high-IQ playmakers tend to win this bracket.

Who registers for the 35+ division

Three player profiles consistently show up here:

  1. Former college players still hooping — guys who played D-I, D-II, or NAIA and have kept their game tight in adult leagues.
  2. Lifelong gym rats — players who never stopped, often the best player on their YMCA or church league team.
  3. Travel-tournament regulars — teams from across the Southeast who've built rosters specifically for masters play and travel together 3–4 times a year.
