Things to Do During Games

For spouses, kids, and friends traveling with the team. The Emerald Coast keeps everyone busy.

Most tournament weekends, the family that came along is stuck. Three days of games means a lot of time outside the gym. The good news is that the Emerald Coast in February has plenty to do — and most of it is within a 20-minute drive of the venue.

Beaches

Okaloosa Island

The closest beach to the venue, about 8 minutes by car. The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island has restaurants, the Gulfarium, and beach access with public parking. A good option for an hour or two between games.

Henderson Beach State Park (Destin)

Florida state park with one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. About 25 minutes east of the venue. Walking trails and a long stretch of preserved coastline. Small entry fee.

Grayton Beach State Park (30A)

Further east — about 45 minutes — but worth a half-day trip. The water is striking even in February. The town of Grayton Beach is a small Old Florida village with a few shops and one or two casual restaurants.

Shopping

Destin Commons

Outdoor shopping center with national stores, a movie theater, and restaurants. About 20 minutes from the venue. A good rainy-day option.

Silver Sands Premium Outlets (Miramar Beach)

One of the larger outlet malls in the Southeast. About 25 minutes east. Easily a 4-hour stop.

HarborWalk Village (Destin)

Boardwalk along Destin Harbor with shops, restaurants, fishing charters, and bars. The harbor itself is the attraction — watching boats come in is its own activity. About 25 minutes from the venue.

Activities for kids

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park

Small marine park on Okaloosa Island. Dolphins, sea lions, sharks, and a touch tank. About 10 minutes from the venue. Good for ages 4–12.

Big Kahuna's Water & Adventure Park

Closed in February (it's a summer water park) — but the adjacent go-kart track and mini-golf may be open depending on weather. Check ahead.

The Track Family Recreation Center

Go-karts, mini-golf, bumper boats, and an arcade. Open year-round. About 25 minutes east of the venue. Reliable rainy-day option.

Watching the games

FCP Sports has spectator seating. Wives, kids, and friends are welcome. There's no admission fee for spectators. Bring a sweatshirt — the gym runs cool. Concessions are available during games.
